To encourage myself to use my Canon Rebel T5 more often, I’m starting a weekly blog post series called My Week In Pictures, which will feature photos that I’ve taken throughout the week. Not only will this be a fun way to chronicle my day to day activities, but it will also give you all an idea of what I get up to when I’m not sitting behind my computer working and writing blog posts.
This week I visited quite a few Vancouver attractions and got to experience my city from a tourist’s point of view. I went on an adventure every day (it seemed) and I got to do it with a few of my favorite people.
1. The Vancouver Aquarium
On Tuesday I accompanied my mom to go to the Vancouver Aquarium, a world renowned marine science centre and research facility that is located in Stanley Park. I’m an annual member at the Vancouver Aquarium and I enjoy visiting all the animals (except for the snakes). The Vancouver Aquarium is currently featuring a special exhibit called Sea Monsters Revealed and if you’re living in Vancouver or just visiting, I would highly recommend checking it out!
Sea Monsters Revealed!
At around 4pm the majority of the animals were taking an afternoon nap. Above are 2 pictures of Sea Otters and below are 2 Sea Lions.
The 2 belugas were quite active and were really enjoying each other’s company!
The jellyfish always captivate my attention. Also, they show up really well on camera.
Every time I visit the African Penguins I always smile because they’re so amusing and silly. It was challenge to take their pictures because of the reflections on the glass, but I figured it out (kind of) in the end.
2. FlyOver Canada and The Vancouver Lookout
On Thursday Ed and I experienced the Fly Over Canada 4D simulation ride at Canada Place for the first time and took the Harbour Centre elevator 553.6 ft skyward to the Vancouver Lookout to get a 360 degree aerial view of the city. Of course I couldn’t take any pictures while on the simulation ride, but I did snap a shot of Ed hanging out at the Canadian Trail around Canada Place.
A gorgeous view of BC Place Stadium, home to the BC Lions Football team.
An overview look of Gastown, Railtown, and East Vancouver. This is where I played the “Spot My Office” game.
Stanley Park and Coal Harbour from afar.
3. The Greater Vancouver Zoo
On Saturday Ed and I drove for 45 minutes to visit the Greater Vancouver Zoo. It was a first time experience for both of us, but we really enjoyed seeing all the mammals, amphibians, birds and reptiles.
4 or 5 peacocks were running around the zoo freely and I couldn’t get enough of them. They’re so majestic!
The first thing that we did once we got to the zoo was watch the Radical Raptors show. We were introduced to the Great Horned Owl named Hedwig (pictured above) and a falcon, and we watched them fly from post to post and respond to their trainer’s verbal commands.
This peacock posed perfectly for our pictures. I had never seen a peacock spread its feathers before and it was breathtaking.
2 Camels having lunch.
An Arctic Fox.
2 Hippopotamuses walking towards their napping spot.
The fastest turtle I’ve ever seen. I’m not kidding, this guy was motoring really quickly!
So that wraps up this week’s adventures! I’m quite excited to be starting this blog post series and it’s definitely going to motivate me to carry my camera wherever I go. Don’t forget that you can see more pictures from my adventures on my Instagram page (@pandamoniumpinkfit). Do you have any suggestions on where I should adventure to next? Let me know in the comments down below or on Twitter (@pandamoniumpink).
Until next time,
Kels
