Now that you’re all caught up on where I’ve been and what I’ve been doing, let’s talk about what I loved during the month of April.
I’ve been a planner girl since the age of 5 (I went to a university prep school where they made all the students from grade 1-12 use a planner) and it’s always been a dream of mine to own a leather Filofax. Sure we’re now in the era of smart phones and smart watches, but I find that I can organize my thoughts a lot clearer on paper. Also, I admit there’s something really satisfying about physically crossing things off a list. My planner goes wherever I go and I use it to track my appointments, meetings, conference calls, date nights, gym training sessions, and of course to make lists. My planner is my lifeline, which is why I wanted to invest in a Filofax for many years, since it’s known to be THE BEST of the best. The price tag of an A5 Filofax was what held me back from getting one all these years, but I decided that if I was going to use it every single day, all day long, for the rest of my life, then why not splurge for once? I was ready to buy a Filofax planner, no matter the cost.
At the end of March I was procrastinating online (I really should have been studying for my final exams) and I stumbled upon the Office Max Canada website. I was looking through their planner section when I saw a banner that said “FILOFAX- 50% OFF SALE.” Uh, what?! I did a double take and immediately clicked the link to the Filofax section. To my disbelief, all the Filofaxes were marked down to $19 – $28! Filofaxes are typically $50 – $150 so this was quite a steal. I told myself that if I bought 3 Filofaxes it would cost a little over half the price of 1 full price A5 Filofax, so I immediately picked out the 3 that I wanted (1 Patent Fuchsia Original A5, 1 Purple Calipso A5, 1 Black Calipso compact) and proceeded to the online check out. 3 Filofaxes for $85 (including tax) and free shipping? Yes please! Lo and behold, 3 business days later my 3 Filofaxes were delivered to my house and I went from a Filofax dreamer to a Filofax collector.
I should also add that the hefty discount on the Filofax planners was a MASSIVE mistake on Office Max Canada’s part. The day after I received my planners in the mail I returned to the website to decide whether or not I should buy one more (I know, I’m addicted). I noticed that the prices were set to a different sale price than what I had paid and instead of each planner being $20 something dollars, there was a little banner that said the planners were 20% off. Oops!
Anyway, as soon as I unboxed the shipping package, I decided to put the 2 Calipsos in storage and only use the Patent Fuschia Original, since it was the first one that caught my eye on the website. It’s been a little over a month since I’ve transferred all my things into the Filofax and made it my new home for all my important scribbles. I wasn’t a huge fan of the inserts that came inside the Filofax, so I recently designed, printed, cut, and punched my own (more on this in a future post). I think it’s safe to say that all 3 of my Filofax planners trumped all my other favorites this past month and I’m definitely not finished collecting them.
Are you a planner collector? Does your heart beat faster when you see a Filofax, Erin Condren Life Planner, inkWell Press Planner, Plum Paper Planner, Kikki K Planner, or Color Crush Planner? Let me know in the comments down below or on Twitter @pandamoniumpink.
Cheers,
Kels
