Confession: I only go to the movie theatre for the popcorn.
I love popcorn and when given the choice between candy or popcorn, I always pick popcorn, HANDS DOWN. If you consume a lot of popcorn like myself, then you would know that the cost of buying popcorn in the microwavable bags adds up. If I buy a 4 bag box of popcorn and consume 2 of the bags in 1 sitting (which happens quite often) then that’s half the box already gone in the span of an hour. I can go through 4 4 bag boxes of popcorn in a month, which is around $30.
About a year or two into my popcorn addiction, my mom suggested that I save money by buying popcorn kernels and popping it on the stove top. Remember folks, mom is always usually right! She showed me how I could pop popcorn easily in a large pot using 4 simple ingredients: popcorn kernels, coconut oil, salt and butter. Her method takes around 10 minutes (set up and clean up included) and it’s relatively mess-free! It’s also pretty healthy considering you can control the amount of salt and butter that you consume. If you’re feeling very adventurous with your popcorn flavoring, I would recommend trying a melted peanut butter topping (just drizzle it on there!), a seaweed and sesame topping, and a cajun spice topping!
In this week’s YouTube video, I’m walking you through this simple stove top popcorn recipe.

2 TBSP coconut oil (canola oil and peanut oil work as well)
1/3 CUP of popcorn kernels
